Iceland: 45 MW Phase I Theistareykir Geothermal Power Plant Begins Operations

The 90 MW Theistareykir geothermal power plant was commissioned today. The plant is the third geothermal plant by Iceland’s Landsvirkjun. The plant's 1st phase commissioned today is 45 MW and the 2nd phase of another 45 MW will be on-line in April 2018. Today’s ceremony was attended by high ranking government and municipal officials as well as Landsvirkjun and contractor staff.
