Monday, September 18
Honduras: 35 MW Platanares Geothermal Power Plant Begins Operation - The 35 MW Platanares geothermal plant is now operating with final tests being carried out by Ormat Technologies.

Belgium: Third Well to be Drilled at Mol Geothermal Energy Project - The client is planning to connect to an aquifer that has a temperature of around 120 Celsius and is located at a depth of up to 5.000 meters, with the geothermal energy to be used to produce heat and energy.

Tuesday, September 19
Ethiopia: 20 MW Corbetti Geothermal Plant in Operation in October - The first phase of Corbetti Geothermal project is to start generating 20 MW of electricity next month. The Geothermal project is located in Corbetti town in Oromia Regional State.

Turkey: Toshiba to Aid Zorlu in Developing Geothermal Energy Projects - Toshiba has entered into a package deal agreement (PDA) with Turkey-based Zorlu Energy Group for geothermal power generation projects.

USA, Idaho: Boise to Expand Geothermal District Heating Network - The City of Boise is looking to expand its use of geothermal heating by twenty percent.

Canada: Plan to Retrofit Oil & Gas Wells for Geothermal Energy - A UAlberta research partnership to retrofit Oil & Gas wells near Hinton has the potential to provide megawatts of power to the local community.

Science & Technology: Leapfrog Geothermal to Showcase Products at Geothermal Energy Event - Leapfrog Geothermal will be exhibiting at the GRC Annual Meeting and GEA GeoExpo+ 1-4 October in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Canada: Site C Hydro Inquiry Finds That Geothermal Energy is Viable Alternative - The Panel finds that geothermal is potentially a viable alternative and we do not agree with BC Hydro that geothermal should be excluded from consideration as part of its alternative portfolio.
