New Zealand: Possible Geothermal Energy Resource Below Rotorua Lakes

The geothermal potential of Rotorua's lakes is becoming clearer thanks to a novel underwater study. Scientists have been deploying thermal blankets on the floors of three lakes to see just how much heat is being generated by the volcanic magma below. Te Arawa kaumātua Toby Curtis says it could have benefits for his iwi.
