President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government still has education, health, energy, security and infrastructure as main priorities as reflected in the last budget before Kenyans go to the poll.

Sh16.4 billion will go to geothermal development, Sh9.7 billion to Last Mile Connectivity and Sh5.1 billion to rural electrification with the the three items being key in the energy sector.

In December 2016, Global Geothermal News reported that in the Treasury’s mini-budget, allocation for geothermal development was proposed to go down to Sh10.5 billion from Sh21.9 billion. A reduction to Sh16.4 billion is not so severe.
