Global: Submit Proposals for Geothermal Market Activities by August 31

Global Geothermal Alliance Issues Call for Proposals in Action Areas (Renewable Energy World)

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) recently issued a call for proposals for geothermal market activities that are seeking implementation support from the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA).

Launched during the 21st Conference of Parties in Paris last December, the GGA is made up of a coalition of countries and development and industry partners. The GGA seeks to achieve a 500 percent increase in global installed capacity for geothermal power generation and a 200 percent increase in geothermal heating by 2030.

Proposed activities must fall under one of the GGA’s action areas, which include:
  • Resource and market assessments
  • Needs and obstacles assessments
  • Enabling frameworks
  • The global geothermal network — experts promoting geothermal energy’s role in supporting decarbonization strategies
IRENA has invited GGA member countries and partners to submit their proposals by August 31.
