Canada: Luncheon Discussion on Geothermal/Oil & Gas Collaboration

Geothermal Energy Exploration and Development 101

Wednesday June 22, 2016 at The Calgary Petroleum Club

Join the Canadian Association of Drilling Engineers (CADE) for a discussion on insights in Western Canadian applications of geothermal geology, drilling & completions, and power generation operations.

The Alberta Oil and Gas Industry has been hit by numerous downturns, most recently from November 2014 up to present. Almost 140,000 jobs have been lost and the oil price is still at or below $50 per barrel. How can we bring back the use of the drilling rigs and use our Alberta oil and gas skills to develop energy?

One answer is to develop the untapped abundant renewable resource we have in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan – geothermal energy. To develop this resource, we need to utilize the same drilling equipment, technology, and manpower to drill and complete the wells according to the oil and gas drilling standards in Canada. Minimal additional equipment is required.
