Iceland: Contract Signed to Supply 50 MW Steam to Þeistareykir Geothermal Power Station

Iceland’s National Power Company (Landsvirkjun hf) and Iceland Drilling Company (IDC) have signed a contract for the drilling of up to 10 steam holes to supply steam for the second phase of the Þeistareykir Power Station, due to go into service in Q2 2018.

There is 50 MWe of available steam energy in existing wells at Þeistareykiror , enough for the first phase of the power plant. Additional holes could deliver at 50 MW or more.
