USA, California: New Map Shows 355 MW Geothermal Energy in Development in Golden State

The California Energy Commission has posted two new maps to its website including one that shows Renewable Energy Projects in Development.

One map depicts the approximate locations of renewable generation projects 1 MW and above throughout California that are either under permitting review or in various stages of construction. The map also includes existing and approved transmission lines greater than 110 kV. Other features include the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan boundary, BLM Preferred Development Focus Areas, land ownerships, and protected lands where development is prohibited, restricted or limited.

In particular, the map and accompanying table shows 355 MW of geothermal energy projects under development in the Golden State, with capacity and status:

  • 159 MW Black Rock 1,2, and 3 Geothermal Power Project - On Hold -  (Imperial Valley)
  • 33 MW Casa Diablo IV - Approved -  (Mammoth Lakes)
  • 49.9 MW Hudson Ranch II - Under Construction -  (Imperial Valley)
  • 15 MW North Geysers - Approved -  (The Geysers)
  • 49 MW The Buckeye Plant - Approved -  (The Geysers)
  • 49 MW The Wild Horse Plant - Approved -  (The Geysers)
