A Warm, Grassy Park in Wintry Boise? Yup (The Idaho Statesman)

The Edwards Pop Up Park has one great advantage — natural geothermal heat that keeps temperatures inside the greenhouse as warm as a late spring day


Last year, the staff at Edwards Greenhouse, a Boise institution since 1930, thought of an innovative way to remind customers that while spring and summer are gardening high seasons, the greenhouse is a year-round operation.

Taking advantage of its natural geothermal heat and lots of space, Edwards created its first Pop Up Park in 2014. Part of the compound became a public indoor garden complete with a sod lawn, benches, trees, bulbs in bloom, and bright, impressionistic murals painted by staffer LeeAnn Town.
