European Parliament City to be Heated by Geothermal Energy (francetv)

French energy company Fonroche has been awarded a research license to explore for geothermal resources in the city of Strasbourg, the capital and principal city of the Alsace region in eastern France and the official seat of the European Parliament.

Early in 2015, Fonroche will start drilling to 3,500 meters at the Illkirch and Eckbolsheim sites with an aim of producing enough geothermal energy to heat 80% of Strasbourg.
