Champion Sailing Boat is Made from Geothermal Product (Reinforced Plastics)

The boat that won the America's Cup sailing competition in San Francisco Bay last year was made from carbon fiber produced as a by-product of geothermal energy generation.


America's Cup winner Oracle Team USA has received a ReXC award from applied research organisation SCRA in recognition of its reuse of recycled carbon fiber composite materials.

The carbon fiber was recovered using a closed loop process in a geothermal plant and then shipped to Team Oracle USA’s supplier, Core Composites, for repurposing.
