The sixth annual Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit & Expo starts today, and as previewed in a press conference Tuesday at the Barbara Worth Resort, the summit promises to be once again a watershed for renewable energy developers and their projects.

The summit kicks off with a golf tournament and a tour of renewable energy projects in Imperial County. Workshops, mixers and panels of industry experts are scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

About 400 people are expected to attend the summit, said Tim Kelley, president and chief executive officer of the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corp.

Additionally, the summit will feature an exposition area for vendors and developers. The Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) will be exhibiting and reporting from the summit.
