Dutch Horticulturist to Drill for Geothermal Heat at Record Depth (FreshPlaza)


Glasshouse horticulturist Hartman based in Friesland, Netherlands, will start construction next year of the, until now, deepest geothermal heat source in the Netherlands. The plan is that the source at a depth of 3 kilometers, will start producing at the end of next year. A number of other Frisian growers and a few Frisian municipalities are thinking about investing in the building of heat nets.

Horticulturist Hartman will use the 100 degrees centigrade water, to heat 28 HA of glasshouses of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.
