Study to Boost Geothermal Returns in Southern Australia (Ninemsn)

Researchers at the University of Adelaide will use a $1.25 million grant to investigate how geothermal wells can more reliably produce power.

The two-year project will be led by the South Australian Centre for Geothermal Energy Research in collaboration with the CSIRO and geothermal companies Panax Geothermal Ltd and Geodynamics Ltd.

The project's chief investigator, Martin Hand, said the research would have significant implications for the potential of geothermal power in Australia and the development of an energy industry producing near zero emissions.
